    • Andrew joined Birketts in 2005.  He is a partner and head of our construction team.

      Andrew specialises in all aspects of construction law.  He has experience in both non-contentious drafting and the management of disputes.  He advises on all the construction aspects of property transactions and is familiar with all standard forms (JCT, ICE, NEC, GC/Works, ACE, RIBA, RICS) as well as regularly drafting and negotiating bespoke appointments and contracts.  Andrew acts for a variety of clients including funders, developers, public sector bodies, contractors and sub-contractors on all forms of dispute resolution (litigation, arbitration and adjudication).

      Andrew is based at our Chelmsford office.

    • Andrew began his career as a chartered civil engineer and member of the Institute of Civil Engineers. He re-trained with a leading international legal practice before joining Birketts. Andrew has a masters degree in Construction Law and Arbitration from Kings College.

      Andrew is recommended by Legal 500 [UK 2016] and listed in the elite 'Leading Lawyers' list of lawyers nationwide. Clients strongly recommend "excellent lawyers" Andrew and colleague Ruth Sunaway. In a previous edition clients note that he has "a pragmatic and tenacious attitude".

      Andrew is ranked in band 1 by Chambers [UK 2017]. He is said to be "extremely knowledgeable, with strengths across all aspects of construction law."  One source notes that he employs a wealth of industry experience, gained in part whilst practising as a civil engineer, to provide clients with expert advice.
