Matthew joined the firm in 2001. He is a legal director in the dispute resolution team in Chelmsford. He has a particular interest in insolvency law.
On the commercial side, Matthew's recent work includes professional negligence claims against solicitors and IFAs, defending a multi-million pound product liability claim in the technology and construction court, obtaining an injunction against a former director preventing him from competing with his former employer, and advising on a claim for secret profits / breach of fiduciary duty arising out of a long standing agreement for the supply of professional services.
On the insolvency side, Matthew advises insolvency practitioners as well as directors, creditors and debtors on issues that arise in insolvencies. His recent work includes advice to the supervisor of a company voluntary arrangement, pursuing and defending claims relating to transactions at an undervalue and preferences, realising Trustees' interests in bankrupts' properties, and obtaining orders for the annulment and rescission of bankruptcy and winding up orders.
