Lorna joined Birketts in February 2016 as an investigations and employee relations consultant in our employment team in our Norwich office.
Prior to taking up this role, Lorna worked as a solicitor, and has 14 years’ experience of employment law and HR. She has a background in commercial law and contracts, having completed her training and worked for international City law firms in London and abroad. Lorna has also worked in-house for a major PLC in East Anglia.
Lorna’s particular area of expertise/interest is employee relations, and she has extensive experience of dealing with complex and sensitive grievance and disciplinary investigations, often involving allegations of discrimination, as well as disciplinary hearings and appeals. Lorna has also conducted re-structuring and TUPE exercises, as well as defending and bringing claims in the Employment Tribunal. She has developed a reputation for combining strong legal and drafting skills with common sense and sound judgement, and for building solid and effective relationships at all levels.
Lorna’s background and understanding of the law means that she is uniquely placed to investigate workplace matters on clients’ behalf. Often working to tight deadlines, Lorna is able to analyse complex and conflicting evidence and to provide clear, impartial and robust investigation reports. Alternatively, she can provide legally privileged reports to business and HR managers dealing with difficult issues involving employee conflict or workplace change, as well as providing support and guidance on these issues.
